huge

Today was absolutely enormous.
Technically, it started in a salsa club somewhere in the vicinity of Cuernavaca, Mexico. Incredible music, some fantastic dancing (not from my feet, however) and a renewed desire to learn how to salsa like a madman.
We hit our friend's house around half past two in the morning, passed out for a few hours, then got up in time to have breakfast at his neighborhood country club (suffering for Jesus) before making the ninety minute drive back to Mexico City for the eleven o'clock service at the local Calvary Chapel.
After church, I jumped through a weird series of hoops involving making group decisions in the middle of a major intersection, moving three girls (and their luggage) into a new apartment, bumming a lot of rides from a very generous new friend, making group decisions in two languages, and tracking down my roommate and leader Tim, who dropped of the radar somewhere in Cuernavaca when we left him at a wedding with one of our (other) new friends. Turns out, a "wedding" can actually involve 1) a wedding 2) a birthday party 3) spending the night at a step-grandparent's house, and 4) another birthday party. I never would have guessed. At any rate, Tim is back on the radar in Cuernavaca.
Then, I ate lunch at Burger King. It's just as nasty in Mexico as anywhere else. But I was hungry.
Withdrew a truckload of pesos to pay for rent, then went and helped Joe move out of his old apartment and dump his stuff at our new one, which we don't actually "have" yet, but we can leave our stuff there. Again, this involved group decisions in the street, abusing local hospitality in transportation, and multiple languages (we switched missing roommates for rain).
Then, I ate dinner at McDonald's. It's just as nasty in Mexico as anywhere else. But I was hungry.
Finally, I'm bumming at a teammate's house, sitting on his floor writing an update for my blog, trying to communicate the craziness of today without complaining.

Do please pray for patience and love and gentleness and kindness and all sorts of other good things for my attitude, my words, and my actions. Pray that we wouldn't lose sight of our purpose here just because we don't have a bed yet. Ask for a fantastic attitude (for ALL of us) towards Mexican culture and Mexican people.

John,
I was hoping that a couple of blogs would appear today, and they did! It is great to hear that you are actually in Mexico City now and great to hear how the Lord continues to stretch you and bless you in the process...McDonald's????!!!! You must have been REALLY hungry! :) I'm glad the Lord has prepared you through previous travels and wanderings for such a day as September 7th. Enjoy!
