Today we visited one of the rougher parts of "town" to help serve lunch to street people. We went by a shrine set up to the saint of death - a real-thing idol that people come and offer sacrifices to. Pretty stinkin' creepy.
And then we noticed a shrine to the virgen de guadalupe.
And then I thought about the end of The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis where he ponders that though there are less really great villains in the world (than previously), there is a multitude of people content to live a "decent life" on their way to hell apart from the redeeming love of Jesus Christ.
Oh, pray for them. Pray that we will reach them with the gospel. Pray that they will accept it.
