strange

Today I went to the early service so that I could leave for the outskirts of Mexico City in time to meet some new friends to help them "launch" a bible study. I got very lost (excellent stupid gringo trick) trying to find the church I was supposed to meet them at - they laughed when I called them to come get me. Despite our lack of vocabulary in common and the awkwardness of eating at a kiddie Sunday-school table, we had lunch and studied the first fifteen verses of John together.
It occurred to me that many of the people I'm working with have probably never actually sat down and studied the bible in a group setting (and maybe never at all). It was really fun to see their faces light up at the reminder that "the darkness did not overcome it."
Please ask God to give our friends here a deep desire to read his word and understand it.

Also in the events surrounding this trip, I managed to see several horse-drawn carts in traffic with the VW busses, cars and motorcycles. Welcome to the (second) largest city in the world, folks - any means of transportation goes. This is a terrible picture (taken as covertly as possible), but in the back of this cart is a couch, chair and loveseat. Thanks and GIG'EM, Mexico.
