cubano

Today I consumed a Cafe Cubano - espresso brewed into raw cane sugar. Deliciously sweet, bitter and coffee all at once in a tiny serving. Wow. I could definitely have another, and maybe three more, without even a twinge of that feeling that I've had too much of a good thing.
After coffee, we headed to the Experience Music Project, where I learned a bunch about Jimi Hindirx, electric guitars, and watched a really cool light show. We ate lunch on the shores of Puget Sound - sandwiches on baguettes, cherries, and pastries. The view of the sound, with sailboats, mountains in the distance, and sunshine dancing on the water, was exquisite.
We finished the day with a hike through some mountain meadows (not too far from the sound) where we got our feet thoroughly wet, our legs thoroughly tired, and our breaths thoroughly taken away (by the view AND the steep slope). Burgers helped out the tired legs, and mom's hairdryer has yet to kick the bucket in attempts to dry out shoes, but if all goes as planned for tomorrow, we'll be just as tired, wet, and breathless as we were this afternoon.
Navigating strange streets with the family can be a little stressful and I need some patience - so if you would ask God for patience on my behalf, I would really appreciate it.
