incomparable

Today we bagged a peak – Mount Fremont. Mom said it was so easy it felt like a gently rolling hill. It helped that we drove part of the way up. We got to hike with a view of Mount Ranier (which looked a little less gentle) and a collection of frozen mountain lakes. The peak had a wonderful view of mountains and valleys patched with snow and wildflowers. We ate cheese, figs and French bread for lunch as we looked out over the view.
As it turns out, we did not get even a little wet, but our breath was thoroughly taken away, mostly by the incomparable view. We heard rumors of wild goats on the slopes, but the only wildlife we saw were minibears and swarms of mosquitoes. They were slower and dumber than Houston mosquitoes. We ate dinner next to the University of Washington campus, looking over one of the bays on the north side of Seattle. The limeade was delicious, and we listened to a harp accompanied by maracas.
