So Tim and I have been toying with the idea of switching into Spanish for everything. Breakfast, team meetings, and long walks on the beach included. Tim's totally for it, but trying to have a conversation about "see you later" is still pretty difficult for me, and requires a lot of brain power, so switching my limited second language into first language position is going to be, well, exhausting to say the least.
But
In the long haul, speaking and communicating entirely in Spanish will mean that we don't have to switch into Spanish for ministry, transportation, or eating. We'll just continue in the same painfully broken dialect. Some of the guys (Mexicans) we hung out with this weekend said that if we switch completely, we'll be fluent in no time. It might actually be worth the pain.
Sooner or later, I'm going to start taking and posting pictures.

Your friends are right--even if you feel silly talking to people that you'd more easily communicate with in English, fluency comes faster if you aren't constantly switching gears. And (at least in Europe, not sure about Mexico!) you probably won't get quite as many stares from people in the street, as bad Spanish probably doesn't stand out nearly as much as near-perfect English.
What you said in one of your earlier posts about not moving relative to the fact that the cosmos is so huge etc. etc. made me think of my current physics honors class (why? why? I'm a liberal arts student, so whyyyyyy?) which might actually convince me to love physics.
I will be thinking of you!!
