Passion started at 7:30 this evening, so (naturally) we showed up at the stadium at 9 in the morning. We moved tables, sat around, took naps, and generally consoled the very few people who knew what was going on (and were therefore more busy than the rest of us). At the end of the weekend, I discovered that there is a whole lot more preparation that goes on backstage for performers than there is for attendees. Attendees are generally happy to show up un-hungry, un-thirsty and content with whatever chair happens to be there. Apparently, famous people are a little more picky. And hungry.
When students finally showed up, they proved very eager to get to their seats, more polite than we expected, and less than interested in the orderly system we had laid out for them. It was pretty neat to see thousands of Mexican students really excited about coming to praise God and listen to biblical instruction. Pray that their excitement will translate to a hunger for God that drives them to his word, to prayer, and to seeking him together.
