busy

Today was supposed to be a day off for Thanksgiving. I had a great day, but it wasn't very off.
I started by playing the stupid foreigner game (trying to buy something that you don't know how to say and don't know where to buy) twice running. First with a security door and then with Crisco. I found the security door in the form of a guy who welds for a living and will install on Wednesday. Nobody has the slightest clue what Crisco - a white substance that's vegetable fat but not oil and is like jelly - is. So much for a last minute pecan pie.
All of us STINTers got together with a local missionary family for stuffing ourselves with turkey and dressing - being full to almost sick with turkey is one of those feelings that tacos just can't give, and it was amazing (second only to the feeling induced by yet another plate).
After stuffing my face and taking a nap, I went to go meet with a group of students who was meeting for the first time today (tonight, really). They get out of class around 9:00 PM, so I went to the school ... and got resoundingly denied by the security.
Praise God for Burger Kings that are open late enough for a multi-cultural group of students to challenge each other to follow Jesus. All four of the people in the group are eager to grow in their relationships with God, but really have no idea where to start. I love pointing people to scripture, to prayer, to fellowship with each other. Please pray that he'll use our efforts to bring workers to his harvest.

John, keep praying for you -- know all about not being able to find Crisco (and the dozen other "staples" from here that aren't staples anywhere else) and being denied by university security. It's all worth it, as you say, to direct students to Jesus Christ. DE
