first

I ate my first tamale today ... for breakfast. It was a little strange, but not all that bad. Our hotel doesn't have heat (almost nothing does here) and something hot tastes awesome in the morning.
We went to campus today and exhausted ourselves talking to students.
God ran us into half a dozen or so students who want to get involved in following Jesus Christ with some other friends (or strangers). It was really cool to be able to explain the whole purpose of what we're doing here all in Spanish. Praise God that he has given me enough Spanish to communicate (somewhat clearly) with my new friends. It looks a little like this:I ended my campus visit by accepting an invitation from a bunch of students to go and grab a beer between classes. Drinking is absolutely unacceptable in Mexican Christian circles, so I think some of the students were pretty taken aback when I accepted. I thought "well, hey if it's between classes, maybe it'll be a good time to talk about the gospel."
Turns out, "between classes" is remarkably flexible once a Poli-sci major hits round three. I'm still batting a .000 on bar evangelism (which makes me really skeptical of all the people writing books about it. Maybe they know something I don't.)
